This National Blood Donor Week (June 10 to 16), Héma-Québec would like to warmly thank Quebecers for their ongoing commitment and generosity. National Blood Donor Week is the perfect time to shine the spotlight on the essential contributions made by donors, volunteers and Héma-Québec staff. Thanks to their dedication, the organization is able to collect the 1,000 donations it needs every day to meet the needs of the province's hospitals.

In recent weeks, Héma-Québec blood drives in different areas across the province have been failing to hit their donation targets. Héma-Québec has put out an urgent call for donations from people with type O+ or O- blood, as well as the rarer type B- blood. As summer vacation approaches, however, we encourage people of all blood types roll up their sleeves and contribute!

- Héma-Québec announces partnership with three hospitals to optimize procurement for human tissue donations

Héma-Québec is proud to announce a new partnership with CIUSSS de l’Estrie–CHUS, CIUSSS de la Mauricie-et-du-Centre-du-Québec and CHU de Québec–Université Laval that will provide the institutions with a local point person specially dedicated to human tissue donation. The goal of the partnership is to optimize the process of identifying and referring human tissue donors, which will shorten death-to-donation times, increase potential donor referrals to Héma Québec and improve tissue donation supply and quality.
- Héma-Québec opens 12th donor centre in Québec

Héma-Québec is proud to announce the opening of its 12th donor centre in Québec, and the first in the Centre-du-Québec region. The new Héma-Québec Drummondville Donor Centre will welcome its first donors in early 2025. Plasma donations made at this centre will be used to produce the specialty drugs needed to treat patients at hospitals across Québec. Each donation is an act of extraordinary generosity and part of a chain of life-changing kindness for thousands of patients and their families.

Héma Québec participates in the public hearings of the Committee on Health and Social Services of the Assemblée nationale du Québec, which has the order of initiative to look into ways to facilitate organ and tissue donation, notably the adoption of presumed consent.
